| SEATTLE - A 16-year-old girl is dead and three other teens seriously injured after a high school party ended in tragedy early Sunday morning in Woodway, south of Edmonds. The four Edmonds-Woodway High School students had just left a small party. They were going so fast down a winding section of 241st Street that a police officer in the area heard the roar of the engine. The next sound he heard was the sporty red Jetta crashing into a telephone pole. A16-year-old girl was killed. Those who knew the high school sophomore describe her as "everybody's friend." "It just kinda hits you hard when it's someone close. I had a class with her and she was always laughing an always cracking jokes and it's just gonna be different without her," said Kelsey Petty. Police believe alcohol was being served at the party the teens attended but they don't think the driver had been drinking. But the 16-year-old only has an intermediate license and no one was supposed to be in the car with him. Video KING 5's Eric Wilkinson reports "Kids don't contemplate the consequences of their actions and if a lesson to be learned here it's to drive slow and legally and safely," said Mark Connor of the Woodway Police Dept. Neighbors say speeding along the curvy two-lane road is a perennial problem. Gail Jones has had cars end up in her driveway. "There were tire tracks down to his van and the hub cab on his van was dented, so they stopped just in time," she said. For now, friends can only hope the young woman's death will not be in vain. "They say don't do it and you're like 'okay, it won't happen to me' but it happened to someone we all knew. So now we know ... and it shouldn't happen again," said Kristin Kathol. Two surviving passengers were in critical and stable Sunday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The driver of the car was in serious condition. It was not immediately known if he will face charges. Police said the girl who was killed was not wearing a seatbelt.

You never think thing like this will never happen to you or someone you know but I guess they do. Jemae, you will be greatly missed you were a great friend I reminisce about those fun filled days we had at college place elem even though we werent great friends it was still fun playing around on the playground with you.
